Clinical Outcome Measures

Clinical outcome measures are standardised tools used to assess how a patient’s condition is responding to treatment and how it affects their quality of life over time. Having consistent, validated outcome measures across centres is essential for comparing results, conducting research, and improving care.

The VASCA Working Group is actively involved in the OVAMA project — Outcome Measures for Vascular Malformations. OVAMA is developing and validating a set of standardised outcome measures specifically designed for people living with vascular malformations. These measures cover both clinical indicators (such as lesion size and complications) and patient-reported outcomes (such as pain, function, and quality of life).

The OVAMA tools are also being incorporated into the NARRATIVE registry project, which will collect long-term outcome data from over 1,200 patients across Europe.
