Webinar Replay: Headache in patients with Moyamoya Angiopathy

This session focuses on a specific but often under-discussed aspect of Moyamoya angiopathy (MMA): headache. While strokes and transient ischemic attacks are well-recognised complications of MMA, headache is a frequent symptom that can significantly affect quality of life but remains less well understood.

Led by Dr. Dominique Hervé (AP-HP Hôpital Lariboisière, Paris) and Prof. Anne Hege Aamodt (Oslo University Hospital), the webinar explores:
- How headaches in MMA differ from primary headache disorders.
- The diagnostic criteria for MMA-related headaches, based on the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3).
- Current thinking on treatment, including surgical revascularisation and medical options like CGRP-targeted therapies and botulinum toxin.
The presenters also touch on tools such as headache diaries to track symptoms and medication use, and they address the challenge of overusing acute headache medications, which can create a cycle of chronic pain.
