VASCERN summer school 2026 launches online training
The VASCERN Summer School 2026 officially began today with its first online session, marking the start of a comprehensive educational programme designed to train the next generation of rare vascular disease specialists. Organised through the ERASMUS+ blended intensive programme, the Summer School combines online learning with hands-on clinical training.
The programme is open to medical students, residents, and researchers working in or interested in rare vascular diseases. Participants will gain practical knowledge across all six VASCERN working groups, covering conditions including vascular anomalies, hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), heritable thoracic aortic diseases, neurovascular diseases, medium-sized artery diseases, and primary lymphoedema.
Hybrid format: online and in-person learning
The online component runs from 13 February to 29 May 2026 and includes live sessions, pre-recorded webinars, and autonomous learning modules covering topics such as rare disease research, genetics, patient advocacy, imaging, and psychology.
The in-person phase takes place from 14–19 September 2026 at the Université Paris Cité Faculty of Medicine in Paris. This intensive six-day workshop includes clinical case discussions, interactive workshops, and networking with VASCERN experts from across Europe.
Participants who successfully complete both modules and all evaluations will receive 3 ECTS credits.
