VASCERN Representation in the interERN WG on Research

VASCERN continues to expand its participation in the interERN Working Groups (WGs)! We are happy to announce that our representatives in the new interERN and Board of Member States (BoMS) integrated WG on Research will be:

HHT-WG Chair, Professor Claire Shovlin (Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, UK) and VASCA-WG Chair, Professor Miikka Vikkula (Université catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium).

This WG will aim to build the research capabilities among ERNs in order to exploit existing resources and capacities and promote new developments in all types of research activities (e.g. pre-clinical, translational and clinical research). Funding opportunities for research (e.g. European Joint Programme Cofund on Rare Diseases, in which the ERNS are participating) and collaboration with other stakeholders will also be explored by the group.

The first virtual meeting of the WG (Chaired by Dr. Luca Sangiorgi) will take place Friday November 9th, 2018 with topics including an update on the European Joint Programme (EJP) Co-fund for Rare diseases (by Dr. Franz Schaefer), a discussion on the objectives of the WG and on the forming of sub-groups and information about the upcoming ERN-LUNG Clinical Trials Network development Webinar.
