This month, the VASCERN Vascular Anomalies Working Group (VASCA WG) successfully held its first patient case discussion using the upgraded CPMS 2.0 platform. This session brought together 20 healthcare professionals from across Europe to collaborate on three complex patient cases submitted by centres in Italy, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
By combining expertise and insights from multiple countries, the session demonstrated the value of CPMS 2.0 in improving care pathways and ensuring patients with rare vascular anomalies receive the best possible recommendations.
What is CPMS 2.0?
The Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS) is a secure, web-based platform provided by the European Commission to support healthcare professionals within European Reference Networks (ERNs). It facilitates virtual discussions on complex cases, ensuring that patients can benefit from expertise beyond their local healthcare centres.
The upgraded CPMS 2.0 offers enhanced performance, improved usability, and streamlined collaboration tools. This makes it even easier for clinicians to work together, no matter where they are based. For conditions like vascular anomalies, which require input from multiple specialists, this tool is invaluable.
Why is CPMS important for patients?
Patients with rare vascular anomalies often face challenges accessing specialised care and expertise locally. Tools like CPMS 2.0 overcome these barriers by:
- Facilitating expert collaboration across countries.
- Improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment recommendations.
- Ensuring personalised care for patients, no matter where they are located.
By connecting healthcare professionals in real-time, CPMS helps deliver better outcomes and ensures that no patient is left without access to the expertise they need.
