European Commission launches the “COVID-19 Clinical Management Support System” based on the ERN’s CPMS

Inspired by the Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS), currently used by the European Reference Networks (ERNs) to discuss complex clinical cases, the European Commission launched on March 24th, 2020 the “COVID-19 Clinical Management Support System”.

This new simplified system aims to support clinicians in hospitals that are currently facing the COVID-19 emergency in Europe. It offers a dedicated helpdesk, managed by DG SANTE, that will set up web conferences in order to allow for exchanges between clinicians in hospitals across Europe that have been designated by the Member States as expert centers for COVID-19. Possible treatments and the best advice on how to handle severe and complex cases can be quickly shared among healthcare professionals for the benefit of all patients.
