ESO-VASCERN Webinar Recording: Rare Cerebrovascular Disorders and the European Network Approach

The recording of the joint ESO-VASCERN webinar on rare cerebrovascular disorders is now available to watch online. The European Stroke Organisation (ESO) and VASCERN hosted a joint webinar on Rare Cerebrovascular Disorders: The European Network Approach on 11 December 2025. The full recording is now available for healthcare professionals, researchers, and clinicians interested in rare cerebrovascular disorders.

This one-hour session highlights practical, clinically relevant tools developed within the VASCERN Neurovascular Diseases (NEUROVASC) Working Group to support the diagnosis and management of rare cerebrovascular disorders such as CADASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy) and Moyamoya Angiopathy.

Expert speakers on Rare Cerebrovascular Disorders

The webinar featured presentations from two leading European experts in rare cerebrovascular disorders:

  • Dominique Hervé (Lariboisière Hospital, AP-HP Nord, Université de Paris, France)
    Tools and Registries to Support Rare Vascular Disorders Care
    Dr Hervé presented an overview of tools and patient registries developed to improve care pathways for people living with rare cerebrovascular conditions across Europe.
  • Nicola Rifino (Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico “Carlo Besta”, Italy)
    Tools in Daily Clinical Practice: Supporting Physicians in CADASIL and Moyamoya Angiopathy
    Dr Rifino shared practical guidance on applying clinical tools in daily practice to support diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary care for patients with CADASIL and Moyamoya Angiopathy.

Interactive discussion and Q&A

Following the expert presentations, an interactive discussion was moderated by Marieta Peitcheva (Bulgaria) and Saskia Lesnik Oberstein (Netherlands). This session allowed participants to ask questions, exchange clinical experiences, and learn how European Reference Networks collaborate to improve rare cerebrovascular care.
