MARFANS, the French patient association for Marfan and related syndromes, is pleased to announce its first scientific and prospective meeting, Marfans 2035, to be held on 5 April 2024. Marfans 2035 aims to learn about the main research directions in Marfan and related syndromes for the next 10 years, to interact with researchers and clinicians, and to identify translational projects that could benefit from the association’s support.
The Marfans Association can actively support your research project in many ways: by providing the patient’s perspective and involvement in the design of your clinical trials and research protocols, by assisting in the administrative part of the preparation of clinical trial applications and informed consent forms, by identifying eligible patients and facilitating their recruitment, and finally by providing financial support.
The ultimate objective of Marfans 2035 is indeed to identify a project that would significantly transform the patient’s life and which could benefit from a substantial financial support from our association for several years, in the order of one million euros.

If you are actively engaged in translational research projects that would contribute to the treatment, management, and reduction of the symptomatic expression of disease and benefit patients, we are pleased to invite you to submit a 15-20 line abstract of your presentation proposal. We encourage presentations of projects involving researchers from different teams, either national or international.
The abstracts will be reviewed and selected for presentation at the Marfans 2035 Symposium by the Marfans Board of Directors on the recommendation of its Scientific Advisory Committee (Dr. Jacques Cheymol, Pr Aude Couturier, Marie Glanc, PhD).

Selected presentations will be in English, 15′ in length, and must outline:
- Their research goals for the next 10 years and expected outcomes for patients
- Composition of the research team, estimated budget and co-funding requirements
- Topics: Therapeutic treatments: drug discovery and development; surgical interventions; diagnostics; disease prevention and prediction; care pathways; genomics, gene therapy, etc.
